Dress to impress. Don't where anything to fancy or revealing though because that will distract from your performance. Dress as though you were going to a job interview, a skirt with nice top or a casual dress would be good. Please don't dress like the character you'll just end up looking silly and it will be had for the director to see you in another role if your not what they're looking for in that character.

It really depends on the character. My advice would be to wear what you'd normally wear to an audition [nice jeans, nice shirt] and bring a bag with a costume in case everyone else is dressed in character. Also keep makeup in there, in case you want to go all out.

Definitely wear clothes that are comfortable and that do not stand out. If your shirt has lettering, it's not a sin, as long as the lettering isn't distracting. You want them focusing on your audition, not your clothes, so don't wear lettering on your butt. Casting directors have seen it all, but many complain about that. (Laugh, but it's true). You don't want to wear clothes matching any kind of character, because it's distracting and your vision of the character may differ from the director's. You don't want to miss the part because you wore the wrong color!!

If you have hair that's longer than shoulder length, pulling it back is fine, but not a must as other people seem to think. Just make sure they can see your face.

Want to be unique? Speak clearly. Keep your arm movements down to a minimum. Move your feet only once or twice during the audition. Keep the audition short (under a min per piece, unless they ask you specifically to do more) and say, "Thank you."

My school did "Anne of Green Gables" for their play. My plan was to dress like the character, to give the director a "visual effect" of how good i'd be to play the part. I was going for Diana and I dressed in a cute skirt and a v-neck top with a bow. (i know it's lame but 7th grade) anyways they wanted to "talk about me" after I sang ( it was a musical) and then they wanted me to act out a scene from the book............as diana. There were no callbacks on callback day soo that got me a little freaked out. Finally it was the day that the cast list came out and at the end of the day i found out I GOT THE PART

Wear regular clothes, but they could hint at the character. For example, if you're auditioning for a farmer, you wouldn't wear a suit; for a femme fatale, you wouldn't wear a twinset (but also you wouldn't dress like a hooker).

Your uniqueness should be in your performance, not your clothes. It's the casting person's job to see your possibilities.

If the character is very unique, then I might dress that way. If nopt, just dress normal and comfortable, because they might want you to dance, but I wouldn't wear sweatpants, because then yiou might not look professional. To sum it up, dress comfy or unique, but also professional!
